There are a number of the themes and topics included in America’s Film Vault: A Reference Guide to the Motion Pictures Held by the U.S. National Archives. This book covers the Reel Treasures (not Hollywood film clips) preserved in the National Archives and is designed to assist writers, researchers, historians, film and video makers, content producers, genealogists, and others in locating the historically rich, celluloid-based, moving images in the motion picture film holdings. There are videos on YouTube and Google that can be embedded on your blog or website.

About America's Film Vault

This book is a comprehensive overview of the 360,000 reels of motion picture film in the custody of the Motion Picture, Sound, and Video Branch, Special Media Archives Services Division, National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), located at Archives II in College Park, MD.

The book is broken into the 349 NARA identified Record Groups (RG) that hold government or donated motion pictures, cites 1466 specific film titles that are used as examples within each of those groups, and concludes with an exhaustive 2,132 item subject index.

About the Author Phil Stewart

Phil Stewart was born and raised in southern California. He graduated from San Diego State University with a B.S. degree in Radio/TV/Film. His M.A. is from Webster College, MO, in Business Management. Phil then joined the U.S. Air Force from which he retired after 21 years. In his spare time, Phil volunteers as a motion picture film researcher for the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. He is a member of the American Aviation Historical Society, the League of World War I Aviation Historians, and the Military Writers Society of America. Along with his wife, and two cats, he lives quietly on the Emerald Coast of Florida.
